Through A Different Lens Newsletter
February 2007
Greetings!

Hello, friends!

May this newsletter inspire new growth for you in your personal and professional life.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Blessings,
Pam Hale Trachta

When the computer repair person told me my logic board had failed, all I could do was laugh. After all, that same week both our cars had dead batteries on the same morning. My work at Miraval came to a standstill. And it snowed in Tucson. Clearly my internal logic board could not make sense of any of this.

Where do we go when our logic boards fail? What strategies can we employ while we’re waiting for things to make sense to our minds again?

I immediately retreat to the right brain, to the land of intuition, dreams, symbols and myth—and of course this is my favorite land anyway. Perhaps it is not yours. But I have some new tools to offer you this year to balance your left brain with your right, to develop your intuition and creativity and your sense of deep inner wisdom.

The first tool is my brand new book; Sand Spirits: The Workbook! If you already own a set of Sand Spirits, you know the cards come with a booklet. The workbook takes the cards several steps deeper. It contains exercises and sample workings of exercises and applications for business, time management, testing wild ideas, bringing out the muse, and techniques for working with children, with self-healing and for creating your own practices. I’m delighted with the beautiful graphic design by Sally Rogers, and by the thoughtful contributions by clients. Click here for more information, see the back and front covers and order a copy on this site.

The retail price of the workbook is $29.95 plus shipping; included with it is a color insert with photos of all the Sand Spirits. The sets of Sand Spirit cards are $24.95 plus shipping. If you order them together, you pay $45 plus shipping, over a 15% discount from the $55 value.

Consider a workshop to develop the tool of your choice. See the calendar and details for shamanic energy circles, Sand Spirit workshops and events and our newest offering, a series of classes on Photography as a Spiritual Practice. If you’re outside the Tucson area, check out the retreats at Cimarroncita this summer. Keep checking the website, as new events will be added.

You might consider sponsoring a workshop, as Jeni Halliday is doing in Houston this spring. You help with gathering participants and arranging the place, and in return you attend free and receive a gift. Email me for more details. Check out the Houston workshop if you’ll be in the area; it’s open to the community.

By the way, the Sand Spirits have informed me that astrological forces and other mysterious large powers sometimes confuse us, as there are larger patterns than the one the fits our map. “Zoom your map out to the cosmic one,” they said, and relax a bit. Work with and around these “illogical” events that often irritate homo sapiens. Identify instead with being homo luminous, a light being and all that represents. Be joyous even when you’re slowed down. Now that makes sense.

In Love and Light,
Pam Hale Trachta

Shamanic Coaching Circles

Please join us for Shamanic coaching circles! The act of meditating together on a subject, speaking our intentions and then offering them in a fire ceremony is a powerful thing to share. And as often as possible, these are held outside on our patio under a full moon.

The circles are open to men and women. You can reserve a place up until 24 hours in advance. I do ask, however, that you make a commitment by 24 hours in advance. I do prepare, so if you cancel after that I will have to bill you. Circles are limited to 12.

And what happens? We call in the spirits of the four directions to create a sacred space. We pass the talking stick and offer our thoughts about the topic for the night. Then we meditate together, and pass the talking stick again. Then we offer an intention or prayer—usually focused on something we are releasing or letting go of—at a fire ceremony. We drum, rattle and chant and offer our gratitude and our prayers to the universe. Before we close the four directions, we pass the talking stick once more to share our experience. Then some of us hang around and talk and have a glass of wine or a cup of hot tea.

The cost is $25 per session unless you bring a first-timer with you, and then you each pay only $20. If you wish to “buy” all three circles in advance, you pay only $60. Time: 7-9 pm; gather at 6:30 for snacks.
